Peter Morley is a disabled patient advocate, a two-time cancer survivor and a healthcare activist who lives with chronic illness and Lupus; he’s had 10 surgeries in 17 years; he advocates, creates digital content with elected officials including Senate Leader Chuck Schumer and members of the Senate HELP Committee. Since 2016, Peter has held 800+ meetings in Congress with Democratic and Republican members alike sharing his own journey and health care stories of people across the United States. Peter testified three times before Congress. Peter’s health is stable because of his access to Medicare.
Peter states that no one should ever have to worry about having their healthcare taken away from them simply because they became ill. Peter stalwartly believes Medicare supplemental insurance should be guaranteed issuance in ALL 50 states.
Peter is passionate about protecting those with pre-existing conditions, encouraging, and teaching others to advocate for themselves at the local, state, or federal levels, and expanding the Lupus Caucus in the House of Representatives. From July 2017 – present, Peter has traveled to Washington, DC 37 times to advocate.
Peter suffers from SLE, (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus), which affects parts of the body. While anyone can get Lupus, the disease most often affects women. Peter is one of 10% of men that lives with Lupus in the United States and although he structures his life around its debilitating symptoms, chronic fatigue, daily medications, and weekly biologic treatments, Peter refuses to let Lupus define him.
