Michael Benvenuto is the project director for the Elder Law Unit of Vermont Legal Aid. He coordinates and supervises the work of the Elder Law Project, the Medicare Advocacy Project, and for victims of crime. The Elder Law Project represents seniors across Vermont in a wide range of legal problems and topics, including health care, housing, consumer law, public benefits, and issues involving elder abuse and exploitation. The Medicare Advocacy Project handles Medicare coverage appeals, primarily for home health services and skilled nursing care. He started at Vermont Legal Aid as a staff attorney in 1992, after graduating from the University of Michigan Law School. Prior to becoming a project director in 2003, he focused on family law and domestic violence cases.
