A: Named in honor Senator Jay Rockefeller in recognition of his years of public service, the Rockefeller Lecture has been the centerpiece of the National Voices of Medicare Summit since its inception. Sen. Rockefeller gave the first Lecture and has participated every year since. The lecture provides an opportunity to hear directly from a leading voice in public service with a demonstrated commitment to advancing access to equitable health care and civil rights. Representative John Lewis, Donald Berwick, E.J. Dionne Jr., Judith Feder, Tamera Luzzatto, Wendell Potter, Ted Kennedy Jr. and Senators Sherrod Brown and Chris Murphy have been Rockefeller Lecturers.
Q: What is the Alfred J. Chiplin, Jr., Social Justice & Advocacy Award?
A. Alfred J. (Chip) Chiplin, Jr., the long-time managing attorney of the Center for Medicare Advocacy’s Washington, DC office, was an admired leader in the elder law, disability and health care rights communities. The Alfred J. A: This year everyone in the Center for Medicare Advocacy’s community has the opportunity register for free to view the live webcast of the Summit.
Q. Are Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits available?
A. As in the past, we have applied for accreditation with the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Commission of Alabama.
It is our understanding that by meeting the CLE standards of the state of Alabama, the Summit will likely also meet the standards in most other states.
We will provide updates on CLE hours as we get closer to the date.
A CLE survey will be sent to all attendees after the Summit. We will provide participants who complete this CLE Survey with a packet of materials they can use when applying for CLE credits in other states.
