As part of a new three-year grant, Atlantic Philanthropies will match new and increased contributions received by the Center for Medicare Advocacy. Atlantic Philanthropies will match a total of $325,000 in new or increased funding during three separate campaign cycles. The first cycle challenges the Center to raise $75,000 in new or increased donations between October 1, 2013 – February 28, 2014.

Atlantic Philanthropies has provided major funding for the Center’s advocacy, policy and strategic litigation efforts, including for the historic case, Jimmo vs. Sebelius. The Foundation’s new three-year grant continues this essential funding. It also supports efforts to ensure the Center’s long-term sustainability – helping us build a robust, diversified funding base from individual, philanthropic, and corporate sources. Atlantic’s three matching grant cycles, coinciding with the Center’s fund-raising campaigns, will be key to ensuring the Center’s future.
Atlantic Philanthropies is dedicated to bringing about lasting changes in the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people. Set up as a limited life foundation, Atlantic has made grants to advance opportunity and lasting change for those who are unfairly disadvantaged or vulnerable to life's circumstances.
In keeping with the founder’s Giving While Living philosophy, Atlantic Philanthropies believes in making investments to solve urgent problems now, so they are less likely to become larger, more entrenched and more expensive challenges later. In so doing, it also seeks to encourage others of significant wealth to engage in major philanthropic pursuits in their lifetime. Atlantic Philanthropies will become the largest foundation in history to conclude their grantmaking in the donor’s lifetime. Atlantic Philanthropies will complete active granting by 2016, distribute its entire endowment, and close by 2020.
