Since 1986, the Center for Medicare Advocacy has been a passionate educator and advocate, working to ensure access to Medicare and quality health care. In difficult times, we need your help to be the voice for those people who have nobody to speak for them.
Current Actions (4)
Add Comprehensive Oral Health to Medicare
Now is the most critical time to let your U.S. senators know how vital it is to cover dental, vision, and hearing care in Medicare. This coverage is widely supported among voters across the political spectrum – especially dental care. A recent Morning Consult/Politico poll asked voters if they support the proposed health care measures presently being considered by Congress. The most popular of the proposals was adding dental, vision and hearing coverage to Medicare, with backing from 84 percent of voters. (89% Dems and 79% of Republicans).
Improve Traditional Medicare Now
Congress and the Administration are currently debating how to improve health coverage and care. Make sure that Medicare is part of that discussion.
Improve traditional Medicare before expanding the program. These steps must come first:
- Control private Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Costs
- Add an Out of Pocket Cap
- Add an Oral Health Benefit
- Add Audiology and Vision Benefits
- Improve Affordability, including by Strengthening Low-Income Protections
- Expand Rights to Purchase Medigap Policies
We Need Your Stories
Tell the New Administration Why Our National Healthcare Programs Matter
What have these programs meant to you? If you could, what would you like to tell policy-makers about your experiences with Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act? How have they helped you? How would you be harmed if they were taken away?

Do You Have an Observation Status Story?
We need to show CMS that this problem affects thousands of people across the country, so in partnership with the John A. Hartford Foundation, we are collecting stories from the people who have been directly impacted. We hope to get at least a few stories from every state.
If you’ve been impacted by the use of “outpatient” Observation Status directly, or know someone who has, please take a few moments to submit your story at https://www.medicareadvocacy.org/submit-your-observation-status-story.
Then tell CMS that they created the problem of Observation Status, and they can fix it – Sign our Petition, below.
