Following a June 1, 2026 meeting with Mehmet Oz, M.D., the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, nursing home advocates sent a letter to Dr. Oz on June 16 summarizing action steps to implement our recommendations. The three major topics discussed in the meeting and letter are (1) strengthening transparency and accountability in nursing home ownership and finances to address Administration concerns about waste, fraud, and abuse; (2) preventing improper use of chemical restraints; and (3) ensuring sufficient staffing.
