Physical therapy services have long been known to cost-effectively improve the lives of those who need them, whether provided to improve a condition or, as affirmed by the Jimmo v. Sebelius settlement and court order, to maintain or prevent decline. A new report by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the first of its kind, now provides evidence that such services are “associated with a net economic benefit to the health system compared with alternative types of care.”
