The framework of the Build Back Better bill released today makes historic investments in many vital programs that will help Americans. But, aside from a much-needed hearing benefit, which we strongly support, the Framework fails to improve Medicare or expand dental and vision coverage. This is not for a lack of available funding – the framework also fails to tackle the high cost of prescription drugs and wasteful overpayments to private Medicare Advantage plans. These resources could, and should, be used to fund those essential Medicare expansions which would help all Medicare beneficiaries.
We urge policy makers to improve the Build Back Better framework before finalizing it – add comprehensive oral health and vison coverage for all Medicare beneficiaries and end overpayments for prescription drugs and to Medicare Advantage plans. Tell your legislators now.
