On May 14, 2025, CMA Attorney Christine Huberty attended the STAT News Breakthrough Summit West in San Francisco, California. Christine discussed how algorithms are still driving denials of care by Medicare Advantage plans. Alongside her was Megan Bent, who sought assistance from CMA for her father’s denials in 2023. Megan shared the powerful story of how the denial process impacted her family. Casey Ross, STAT reporter and co-author of the Pulitzer-prize nominated “Denied by AI” series, moderated the panel.
